About

Adam Smyth set up AJS Electrics in 2010, just a year after successfully completing his electrician apprenticeship and working as a sub-contractor.

AJS has grown into a team of 25 highly skilled engineers and specialists such as consultants, plumbers, and HVAC engineers. We all share Adam’s drive for delivering a top-class service – every time, whatever the job.

Most of us have been there from the start, so we know how to get the best from each other. Things can change – especially on a building site – but our ethos is to think on our feet and overcome!

For us, solutions are found not only in the tech, but through developing honest and cooperative relationships with clients, management, primary contractors, and other trades. In only 14 years we have developed rock-solid relationships with suppliers and specialists, enabling us to serve a diverse and nationwide client base of over 50 companies from Aberdeen to Brighton.

We work on retail, new builds and refurbishments, hotel chains, commercial and industrial properties, community centres and domestic homes. No one client is the same, and no one job is the same: AJS provides a personal and professional service, be it full M&E, or changing a light bulb.

Or maybe it’s because we care!

We certainly like to keep busy:

89
(increasing weekly) electrical upgrades across the Ladbroke / Coral estate
650
K
Metres of twin & earth cable installed to date
390
K
Metres of cat5/6 data cable installed to date
46
(increasing weekly) electrical upgrades across the L’Occitane estate

And we have grown to offer not just electrical, but full M&E as well.
We get satisfaction from being the single point of contact: meticulously managing all the electrical, heating, air conditioning, plumbing and drainage, assisted by our reliable supply chain and network of trusted specialists.

This means our clients save time and money – and avoid stress.

In terms of our credentials, all our engineers have completed a 4 year on site/college electrical apprenticeship and passed their qualifying AM2 exam.
AJS has then provided further learning opportunities and health and safety training.

This means that we all have the following accreditations:
– 18th edition wiring regulations
– 2391 testing & inspection
– NVQ level 3 in electrical installation

And the following Health and Safety training:
– SSSTS safety course
– CSCS site safety
– Face fit
– Asbestos awareness
– Working at height
– Manual handling

Further, we are all Enhanced DBS checked – for extra peace of mind.
You can also rest assured that we are constantly reviewing any changes to electrical regulations/Health & Safety, and we make sure that our team is up to date via CPD.

In terms of company accreditations, AJS as a company has the NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Contracting) stamp of quality: we are a NICEIC approved contractor and a NICEIC domestic installer. We are also an OZEC (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) approved EV charger installer.

It’s crucial to AJS that we keep all our staff, clients and the general public safe at all times. We ensure we comply with all Health & Safety regulations, and can boast accreditation not just from CHAS (The Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme), but SafeContractor & Constructionline, and these are all are reviewed and updated every 12 months.

Needless to say, we are FULLY insured. NICEIC requires us to have £2 million public liability insurance. We actually have £10 million to give extra reassurance to the client. On top of that we have £250k Professional Indemnity Insurance. We also offer a 12 month warranty on our work.

So if you’re looking for M&E services and want:

  • A tailored, personal & professional service
  • Hassle-free, legal and safe
  • Delivered on time, on budget
